Nickel Plate Road #587 in Noblesville, IN. I volunteered on this locomotive with my dad in the late 90s. It is currently getting boiler tubes replaced and should be operational in 2015!

This must have been taken sometime in the late 90's/early 2000's. The tool car (blue car right behind the locomotive) was repainted later on.

I actually think I had a lionel of this locomotive. It was definitely Nickel Plate Road locomotive.

Was it a 2-8-2 or 2-8-4? If it's a 2-8-4, it's most likely the 765. This locomotive actually has a Nickel Plate 2-8-4 tender on it for greater coal and water capacity.

It been the over a decade since I played with my train set, but I think it was a 2-8-4 but not at all sure.
